China Security is now entering its 5th year as a forum for leading scholars and influential policymakers to discuss China’s unique strategic outlook. CS now goes out in electronic form to over 20,000 people in addition to 1,500 hard copies sent free of charge. To date, the journal has been produced with the generous support of the Ford Foundation and the World Security Institute. That era, however, is ending. From this point forward most of the support for CS must come from those who actually use and value it—the recipients.
Currently, less than 1 percent of all CS readers support the publication; to those of you who have already given funds or subscribed this year—THANK YOU! I appeal to those that have not done so to help keep us operating. Our budget for this valuable publication is kept to a bare minimum, far lower than any other publication of its kind. So please, today, make your gift if you have not already done so. I suggest a contribution of $50 to $100, $25 if your resources are quite limited (i.e. students). We hope that those who find special value in China Security will contribute more. You can contribute online using a major credit card via PayPal: Or you can make a credit card contribution by contacting Judy Edwards at 202-797-5260.
Or you may send a check made out to "World Security Institute" to: The World Security Institute 1779 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. Washington, DC 20036-2109 Please indicate on the check, “I wish to support the China Security Journal” (Please do NOT make checks out to me personally.) The World Security Institute (WSI) is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Gifts to WSI and its projects are tax deductible, as allowed by law. If you have any questions or comments please let me know. Thank you for your support! Sincerely, Eric Hagt Editor |
